ASX speaks MCP. Point ChatGPT, Claude, or any MCP client at one address and it can list datasets, describe them, query observations and build charts — no account needed to start.
One address, signed in or not
Without an account it answers over the public catalogue. Sign in and the same tools widen to everything your account can reach — your own datasets, ones shared with you, and any collection you subscribe to. Same URL either way.
- In ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors → Create
- Name it ASX, paste the URL above
- Set Authentication to Mixed — the one setting that covers both. No ASX account? It still works: you get the public catalogue straight away. When you do sign in, the same connector widens to everything your account can reach, with nothing to reconfigure.
Start without an account
Ask it to chart something and it saves a real report you can open and print — held for 12 hours on a private link, and listed nowhere.
Click Edit on that report and sign in, and it becomes yours for good. Keeping a report, changing it, or sharing it is where an account starts to matter.
